Stainless Steel 310/310S Pipes and Tubes

SS 310S Tubes is developed for the use in high temperature and shows the corrosion resistance feature. This alloy can resist oxidation up to 1100 degree C under the mild cyclic conditions. It contains moderate nickel and high chromium content in it. It is also solid to sulfidation and works well in a carburizing atmosphere. SS 310 Pipes can be used in the insignificantly oxidizing, cementing, nitriding and thermal cyclic uses. This alloy is readily usable in the cryogenic temperature with reduced magnetic permeability as well as toughness down to 268 degrees C. Stainless Steel 310/310S Pipes & Tubes is a low carbon alloy tubes. These tubes can be used in food processing, furnaces, ore processing, power generations, petroleum refining, etc.

This alloy is designed as such that it can work well in a wet corrosive environment. This allows is liable to intergranular corrosion after continuous exposure at elevated temperature. But due to its increased Cr content, it is more corrosion resistant than heat resistant alloy.

Welding of Stainless Steel 310/310S Pipes & Tubes can be done with matching filler metal and electrodes. This alloy is welded by GMAW, SMAW, SAW, and GTAW. Argon is the shielding gas. Pre-heat as well as post heat is not needed, however for corrosion service in liquid, post-weld solution and annealing treatment is necessary. Pickling, as well as passivation of the surface, is done to remove the high-temperature oxide and is necessary to restore aqueous corrosion resistance when welding. This treatment is not needed for elevated temperature service however welding slag must be removed thoroughly.
