Alloy 20 Ferrule Fitting is also acknowledged as carpenter 20 ferrule fitting. These fittings are designed for higher resistance to chemical exposure and these have a blend of chromium, iron and nickel content. These fittings have a higher resistance to local and general corrosion. Even it opposes crevice and pitting corrosion cracking. Alloy fittings serve good performance in severe chemical environments such as nitric acids and phosphoric acids. These fittings have niobium content that improves stabilization against intergranular corrosion and sensitization. These fittings are originally designed for use in organic and inorganic compound exposures. Moreover, there is no chance of carbide precipitation losses.

All common welding can be performed on alloy ferrule fittings. The welding operations like resistance and arc welding is performed except gas welding operations. In addition to columbium, the carbide precipitation range in heat affected zone got reduced. Moreover, preheating operations are not required in these ferrule fittings. These fittings cannot be hardened by heat treatment operations. The stabilized annealing operation is performed in temperature at 1750 deg F to 1850 deg F. alloy 20 ferrule fittings are followed by water quenching for cooling.
