Stainless Steel 904L Flanges

SS 904L flanges have various types such as welding neck, slip-on, threaded, socket weld, lap joint, blind and more. However, these are commonly available whereas some special types are also in use. All Stainless steel 904l flanges may be used in different industries but they possess similar properties. Use of 904L grade stainless steel infuses the properties such as corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, high strength and more.The flanges made from SS904L are capable of withstanding in chloride and warm seawater conditions as offer resistant towards their attack. The presence of nickel offers resistant to stress

corrosion cracking. Moreover, these flanges are suitable to work in mild as well as aggressive conditions due to the presence of copper. Copper gives resistant towards reducing agents that are used in these conditions. Apart from this property, Stainless steel 904l flanges are oxidant resistant but above 400 degrees C the SS structure start collapsing.

The SS 904L socket weld flanges are good to work in evaporative conditions due to resistant to SSC. For hot working processes, the SS blind flanges are capable of working at the temperature range of 850-1150 degree C. standard shop fabrication practices are used to weld and process these flanges whereas solution annealing is done to provide ductility to the product.

Due to these characteristics, Stainless steel 904l flanges found applications in oil refinery components, gas scrubbing plants, pulp and paper, sulphuric, phosphoric, and acetic processing plants.
